Where Darfur is Located
Darfur is located in the biggest county in Africa, Sudan. It is the western part of Sudan and is roughly the size of Texas and is divided into 3 states, Shamal, Gharb, and Janub Darfur. Also known as north, west, and south Darfur. The reason for the genocide is because there a numerous amount of ethic groups ranging from 40 to 80 groups in Darfur ("What Has Happened in Darfur?"). People try to flee Darfur to go to Chad or more east of Sudan but still face sexual violence and execution from different ethnic groups and tribes. To think that 97% of the people who were killed were merely innocent civilians is an outrageous number when 400,000 people were killed.
